Lead-Based Paint Disclosure – Federal law requires all landlords to provide their tenants with a lead paint disclosure if their property was built before 1978. (EPA/HUD Fact Sheet)

Security Deposit
Maximum Amount – There is not a maximum amount a landlord may charge for a security deposit.
Returning – The tenant must receive their security deposit back within one month of the lease’s end. (ยง 9:3251(A))
- Deductions – If the full security deposit is not returned, the landlord must provide a list showing any deductions. (RS 9:3251(A))
- Tenant Doesn’t Forward New Address – Tenants have 90 days to provide their new address or forfeit the deposit.
