Landlord Identification – The tenant must know the property manager or landlord’s name and address. (§ 76-1417(1))
Lead-Based Paint Disclosure – Per federal law, for any building constructed before 1978, the landlord shall provide a lead paint disclosure. (EPA/HUD Fact Sheet)
Rent Grace Period
Security Deposit
Maximum Amount – One month’s rent is the most a landlord may charge for a security deposit in Nebraska. (§ 76-1416(1))
Returning – The landlord must return the security deposit to the tenant within 14 days of the end of the lease. (§ 76-1416(2))
- Deductions – The landlord must provide a written list of deductions with the security deposit within 14 days of the lease termination. (§ 76-1416(2))
- Tenant Doesn’t Forward New Address – If the tenant does not claim the security deposit within one year, they forfeit the amount. (§ 76-1416(2))
