Rent Grace Period

Mississippi law does not provide a mandatory grace period, meaning there is no grace period. The rent must be paid on the date agreed to in the lease agreement.

Security Deposit

Maximum Amount – There is no set maximum security deposit amount required by Mississippi law.

Returning – Landlords must return the security deposit back to the tenant within 45 days of the lease termination. (§ 89-8-21(3))

  • Deductions – The landlord must provide an itemized list of damages if there are deductions made to the security deposit. (§ 89-8-21(3))
