A lead-based paint disclosure must be given to tenants and buyers of property if a residential property was constructed before January 1, 1978. Prior to that date, it was legal to use lead-based paint which is a health hazard especially when chipping or in the form of dust. Lead is especially dangerous to children under 6 years old.
